After your arrival we will meet you at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Yerevan. Your trip starts with a city tour around Armenia’s capital city Yerevan. First of all, you will be able to enjoy an amazing view to Yerevan and Mount Ararat from the observation area in the Victory Park. The excursion will continue to the Cascade – the favorite place of Yerevan residents. The cascade is a huge staircase that connects the city center with the residential area. Downstairs, you will see the unique sculptures, belonging to the world famous foreign sculptors. Next, you will pass through the main street of the city and see the building of the opera and ballet theatre, several central streets of Yerevan, and the Republic Square – the “heart” of the capital. Moreover, you visit the History Museum of Armenia. Hence, you get to know the millennia-old heritage Armenians are so proud of.
Your second day starts with visiting the incredible museum of the genius artist and film director Sergey Parajanov. The next destination is the pride of Armenia – the cognac (brandy) factory. Here you have an excursion and taste couple of varieties of famous Armenian Brandy. In the afternoon you have a 40 minutes drive to the Garni Pagan Temple. It was dedicated to the sun god Mithra (Mihr) and was the summer residence of Armenian kings. Next is a UNESCO heritage sight Monastery of Geghard. It is known for its peerless sculptures and cave church. Founded in the 3rd century, its name translates as spear, dedicated to the Holy Lance, which used to be kept here. Here, near the gorge of the river Azat you take part in a master-class of Armenian bread (lavash) making in an underground oven tonir. Lastly, the road takes you to the north towards the famous Lake Sevan, where you visit the peninsula and Sevanakank. You return to Yerevan in the evening.
Day 3 begins with a trip through the Ararat Valley to the monastery of Khor Virap. Its history is related to the adoption of Christianity in Armenia. It offers the most spectacular view of Mount Ararat. The trip continues towards Areni wine region. Here you participate in tasting local wines and have an excursion at a wine factory. Next, you visit the cave with excavations of the oldest winery in the world. After the dinner in Areni, the tour continues towards the masterpiece of medieval Armenian architecture - the Noravank Monastery. It is surrounded by picturesque red cliffs and beautiful landscapes. Back to Yerevan in the evening.
Your last day starts with check out from the hotel and visit to one of the most favorite touristic spots in Yerevan – the open-air Vernissage market, where locals are selling their hand-made souvenirs. Next is the ‘Armenian Vatican’ – the oldest state built cathedral in the world and the religious center of all Armenians – St. Etchmidzin (4th c.). you also attend the Etchmiadzin museum where many holy relics are kept and the surrounding early medieval churches Gayane and Hripsime. Next is a drive to the ruins of Zvartnots, another impressive UNESCO world heritage site. From Zvartnots there is a 10 minutes drive to the airport with same name. Farewell and departure.
